LET THE EXPERTS AT CERTIFIED HANDYMAN & REMODELING ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS

  • What if I have questions about the job once it is started?

Throughout any project, questions and concerns arise from time to time. Can we add this, can we move this switch, are we working this holiday, etc. During your job we communicate with you daily. By text, in person, phone or email. We are always happy to answer any questions or concerns that you have.

  • Can I make changes to the job after it has started?

We have never had a job where the customer did not change something: a door, paint, light, etc. At the time the change is requested, we will let you know if the change is included in our current scope of work or not. If not, then the changes will be billed as extras at the settlement stage of the job. If there are many changes, or a particularly large change, we may require funds to cover materials for those changes prior to completion of the job. Please keep in mind; though we don’t mind doing changes, because we want you to be happy with the finished product, and in the end, get what you want; each change extends the life of the job. There may be a time after several changes, or if a large change is requested, that we must temporarily stop the job due to our pre-scheduled obligations to other customers. Large, expensive, or complicated changes will require a separate change order.

  • How do allowances work?

All the allowances are included in the final contract amount. Let’s say I am trying to give you an estimate for a bath remodel, but you have yet to choose a toilet. I need to put a price into my estimate to give you a bid, but the cost of what you choose can vary greatly. An allowance lets me give you an estimate without knowing the actual price. If I put in $200.00 for the toilet, and you decide on a toilet that cost $500.00, then you pay the $300.00 difference. If you find a toilet that you like for $150.00, then the balance of $50.00 is refunded to you at the end of the job. This works the same for any item, or part of a job that cannot be determined before the contract signing.

  • Do you use subcontractors?

Most, if not all, of the work on your job will be done by our team. There are a few things that we sub out to qualified, insured trades. Notably, HVAC, carpet, hardwood floors, and roofing and siding. If a permit is required on your job, the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, will be performed by contractors that we have vetted, and that have an excellent reputation.

  • What materials do you use?

From the Schluter waterproofing membranes we use in your bathroom, to the PEX plumbing fittings behind your walls, to the Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore paint on your walls, you can be assured that we will only use quality materials.

  • Where do I purchase tile, cabinets, appliances, bath fixtures, etc. for my remodel?

Many of our customers find a lot of what they need online, however; there are many good, reasonably priced suppliers in Louisville. You can find the ones we deal with the most on our downloadable Vendors List Here.

  • When do you require payment?

Cabinets and countertops will require 50% down, at the time we order. Our payments are scheduled to be made as different stages of the job are started or completed. Normally, we don’t require any money from you until we start work.
